The full-service restaurant gives diners a premium experience in a relaxed setting that is surrounded by the sun and sea, for an ideal place to dine day or night. Popular among its loyal and regular diners as well as first-time visitors to the Gold Coast, The Tropic offers guests a Gold Coast dining experience that is worth a return visit.

Job Summary:

As a Host of The Tropic, you are the face of the business. You are the first and last person our customers see, and most of the time for the Pavilion also. Reporting directly to the Manager on Duty and Restaurant Manager, your role is to welcome, seat and offer any assistance to our guests.

Our venue has a huge clientele, it is your responsibility to remember our return, VIP and local customers, preferably by name and preferred table. Our restaurant is striving to be the best on the Coast, our local and return customers are the guests enabling this.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Greet and acknowledge any/all customers
Seat all bookings/walkins
Create bookings for guests in Now Book It
Complete Daily Tasks list including basic admin
Interact with the guests, enhance their experience
Get to know our regulars, build a rapport with them
Always look presentable and ready for work.
Wear neat tidy and professional clothing along our dress code
Have your hair and makeup neat and natural looking
Greet each guest with a smile
Answer all incoming restaurant calls
Assist the Reservations Manager in table configuration to seat the maximum number of guests – including monthly allocations
Complete a functions sheet with upcoming groups for Executive Chef
Communication with Manager on Duty and customers
Ensure the restaurant is always presentable
Have enough menus printed for the day

Skills:

Knowledge of the restaurant industry
Carry 3 plates
Knowledge of Food Hygiene Regulations
Communication and Interpersonal skills
Ability to work well under pressure
Professional and proficient customer service
